Playstation 3 Hacked

PS3
To pirate a game for PC, Xbox 360, or Wii is (unfortunetly) very common. And now people succeeded in hacking the Playstation 3. On the 27th Chaos Communition Congress the hacker group "fail0verflow" did their presentation "PS3 Epic Fail" about how to do it, and it's on youtube, "Console Hacking 2010", 44 minutes long. You can install now without any 3rd party programs any unauthorized programs, like Linux, Homebrew, and of course pirated games. Which is strictly illegal.
This access for everything on your PS3, what fail0verflow managed to do, means: times are coming for the Playstation Network in which they fight against cheater and hacker in online games because you can install now cheat software of course, too.

There most likely is going to be way to hack pretty much any gaming console. It might only get too hard for people with only a little time to check it out.
yeah these guys who did it werent pirating games but...when the put the code out there guaranteed someone will. THose guys actually make a point to say that copying software was stealing.
oh no :/ this is your first post in this year and it's about bad things :/ poor playstation 3 ... :((
I don't wanna pirate but I want my gaming consoles to be region free, just like the handhelds. Why does no one make them region free, why must we always break our stuff to make it work the way we want it. T3T
Homebrew is the only use my DS gets.
Hacking a game console, to me, isn't such a bad thing. The bad thing about it though is the fact that many people will use this new hack for bad.
Anything is hackable.
surprised it took so long. happy new year sony.
Can't believe this happened but it's been a while since the ps3 was out. So someone was ought to do it soon.
Must, Resist, Jail Breaking............
so the playstation3 is useful again
It isn't really bad news, actually they're quite good, one of the features that made the PlayStation 3 better than other consoles was that it was capable of using Linux, but they dropped the support when they introduced PS3 Slim, now we got it back
where there's a will, there's a way.
it was a matter of time, though
HAPPY NEW YEAR, ESE
wow, that took longer than I expected
they sure took their time for that one
i hope this wont cause a quality decrease in ps3 games
Well, surprised it didn't happen sooner, to be honest. Considering how fast other console hacking occurred and all...
I personally don't have any plans to hack my consoles unless it is required to play certain games. I just am too afraid of ruining my system.
what took them so long? :P
Give any hacker long enough and they'll figure it out. :)
No plans to hack my PS3. Just wish Sony would come out with some PC side software to make it easier for sharing my media. The ones that are out there work but I have used several different ones and they are all flaky.
