Diablo 3 - USK 16 Rating

Diablo 3 has been rated for Germany: The game is suitable for people who are at least 16 years old relating to violent or sexual content. Due to massive blood and gore in D3 Blizzard wasn't sure whether to cut the game or release it uncut.

Fortunately, the Germans are lucky to get the whole game content with exploding zombies or burning monsters. The hack 'n' slay is now ready for a release in Germany. Although Diablo 3 is still in the progress of developing, this barriers were broken.

As said before, this is only important for Germany. The German "Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle", meaning Self-Monitoring of Entertainment Software, is like PEGI, the Pan European Game Information. They rate computer games regarding the suitability for children, from 0 to 18 years of age.

Wow, I heard German censorship laws were pretty strict. Good to hear they'll be getting D3 uncut, though. I really don't like it when games get censored.

@ The Dawg:

That's actually true. Games are very often cencored or cut in Germany, withour blood, gore, or ragdoll.

Actually that is very untrue. Games are always self censored by publishers if they want a 12+. If you would get an 18+ and you want a 16+ it most of the time is first person and very real. Look for any isometric game out there that got any higher than 16+ you wont find any. PEGI may think again when giving Diablo 3 a 18+ - look at the bottom here: http://eu.battle.net/d3/fr/

And then there's UK with a 15+ for D3 also uncut.

People thinking games are bing censored in Germany have it all wrong.

@ Anonymous: There are tons of games here in Germany that are 18+ and still extremely censored... Some games like Mortal Kombat 9 (and most of the other installments of the series) don't get a USK rating at all and thus may not be sold in Germany.
